A Lápiz (‘pencil’) is a leg extension, pointing the foot and toe, drawn in a circular fashion in response to what the Follower is doing. It’s usually done to the Follower’s Molinete or Traveling Ocho on their resulting back step, and it’s there to accentuate the line of that back step.
