The Snake Walk, Inside and Outside, is one of the Six Ways of Walking. In this method of walking the Lead will take their opposite foot and cross into the Follower’s free space created by their departed foot. So let’s assume the Lead and Follow line up together (Lead left to Follower right, and Lead right match to Follower left). As the Follower is led back with their RIGHT foot, this creates a space. Instead of the Lead stepping forward with their LEFT, they step forward with their RIGHT. Now as the Follower transitions from RIGHT to the LEFT, the Lead steps forward into the space created by the Follower with their LEFT. The effect is that the Lead is crossing over themselves or a ‘snake’ walk.
