Osvaldo Pugliese (1905 to 1995) was an Argentine pianist and orchestra leader whose music is dramatic, heavy and full of tension and release. His orchestra is famous for La Variación passages and for long, stretched phrases, especially in his later recordings, that can be a real challenge to walk to.
