Every embrace has an Open Side and a Closed Side. Typically in Tango it refers to the Lead’s left side, and the Follower’s right side, where their arms and hands join. Most vocabulary starts on the Open Side; doing the same thing starting on the Closed Side is what gives us the ‘Dark Side’ versions of vocabulary, like the Dark Side Salida.
