Carlos Di Sarli (1903 to 1960) was an Argentine pianist and orchestra leader, known as ‘El Señor del Tango’. His orchestra has a smooth, elegant and very steady beat, which is why it’s a staple at every milonga and a regular choice for the exercises here on Tango Topics. Early Di Sarli is crisp and rhythmic; his 1950s recordings have the long, ‘stringy’ notes that ask for a different kind of musical interpretation.
