When you walk into our Milonga, you can sit wherever you like. Some people in our Milongas, we’re not naming names, grab one of the larger tables and get a group together. Some prefer to sit by themselves. Honestly, you can sit wherever you like. There is no pecking order or special place to sit for reserved members. Homey don’t play that. Which is to say, we don’t use reserved seating or reserved tables.
However, there is a little known aspect to codigos, in relation to where you sit, it’s about how to sit and the where part. Which is to say, sit where you can be seen by the entire room! Try not to slouch in your seat, but rather sit up and be alert for a Cabeceo or Mirada. Cabeceo and Mirada are the preferred methods of asking and making yourself known and available for a dance! Click on the links above to discover what those things mean in our Milonga, even if you think you already know.
Cabeceo/Mirada can come from any direction at any time, and you want to be able to send and receive them without any obstacles in the way. And that means sitting where you can be seen!
