The fact of the matter is that when dancing Tango, you’re going to either run into someone, and/or you’re going to hit something or someone. This is, obviously, not intentional. Stuff happens. You either misjudge the distance of something or someone, and you step very close to, or on someone else’s foot, or a table and chair just jumps out at you into the Lane of Dance. 😂 In either case, accidents happen. When this occurs, and it’s going to happen at some point in your tango life, there is one singular thing that you can do to ‘fix’ the problem. Apologize to your partner, and to the couple that you ran into. Sometimes a simple acknowledgement is all that is required.
Ideally we want to keep our dance contained within our own space but sometimes things get away from us and we’re not able to contain things, and when that happens, all that we ask of our participants is that we apologize and then move on. It doesn’t need to be a scene of grandiose proportions of ‘OH MY GOD!! I AM SOOOO SORRY” with lights, cameras, and the media needs to be alerted. No, just a “Whooops! I am sorry!”, and then to move on.
Capice ?
