This is only one of many possible Single Axis Turns. The Single Axis Turn is a variation of the Colgada. Only this particular type of Colgada can be done from Close or Open Embrace, and usually involves some step around function to generate the turn. In this example above, this is a Close Embrace Single Axis Turn. The reason it’s called a Single Axis Turn is because the rotation occurs around the CENTRAL SHARED VERTICAL Axes of the partnership. Typically there are 3 of them, in this case, we are only accessing the middle of the 3. However once the turn starts, that AXIS shifts to the one of the two outer Lead’s Vertical Axes depending on which foot they’re on. If you want to learn how to do this, follow the link below. If you register (which is free!!!, and below…just scroll down) you can read about the Leading, Following, and Dancing Perspectives which can help you to understand the vocabulary a bit more. But if you subscribe (please) you can see the whole video and more including every video on the site, for one price!
