Milonga Lisa

MIlonga Lisa is two ideas in one. First and foremost it refers to style of Milonga (the dance, not the music or event) that is danced less often today but is still a valid form of Milonga. And secondly it is the activity of dancing to Milonga Music in a very particular way.

Let’s address both of those descriptors.

First, Milonga Lisa is the ‘simplified’ and refined version of Milonga Porteña. It uses very simple forward steps, side steps, and back steps usually done in PARALLEL WALKING SYSTEM ONLY to create a walking dance on the Milonga BEAT, NOT the Habanera Rhythm.

Secondly the ‘BEAT’ that Milonga Lisa is danced to is on the “1”, “2” of Milonga only! Not the ‘El Golpe’ note, nor the last ‘AND’ of the Habanera Rhythm. For reference purposes the Habanera would be > “1”, “El Golpe”, “2”, “And” or “San-Fran-Cis-Co”.
