Foundation. While Argentine Tango has it’s ‘8 Count Basic‘, and is considered by many to be a ‘basic’ of the dance. It is not the Foundation of the dance. The Foundation of the dance consists of the following 5 things:

2.) Forward Steps, Side Sides, Back Steps (for Lead & Follow).
3.) Embrace.
4.) Weight Changes
5.) Partnership.
One might consider Music to be on this list of Foundation. However, when we’re talking about Foundation, we’re really talking about movement, not what you’re moving to, but how you’re moving, and that’s these 5 things that Tango Topics considers to be the most important foundational elements of the dance.
