The 'Basics' of Tango
Everyone thinks that they don’t need their BASICS, or that they don’t need to revisit their foundation. Wrong. You do. Constantly. Unless you teach, and even then you do – even more so, you must revisit your foundation to help you to fix the errors, and yes you have them, that have crept in that you are unaware of. On this site there are over 800 videos and articles (not including all the other stuff) on Tango Topics for you to watch and learn from. It’s not just the videos, but the articles that contain the most of what you need to know to elevate your dance. We’re not trying to sell you videos here, but instead to inform and engage you to educate yourself wherever possible.

Golden Nugget Extensions
What is a Golden Nugget Extension ? The title is a both a double-entendre as well as a deliberate explanation of what it is. First, it’s taking the Golden Nugget and adding an expansion pack to it. Things you probably hadn’t thought of when playing with The Golden Nugget. Secondly, it’s adding extensions to everything, everywhere!

A Useful 8 Count Basic
What is a Useful 8 Count Basic ? Put simply it is a modification, and goes further by actually adding for variations on a theme. The modification has to do with orientation, and then actual rotation. That if you modify the orientation of certain steps and you rotate the resulting steps in certain ways then the 8 Count Basic becomes more than useful, it’s actually a lot of fun in nearly any embrace that you can come up with (including the Berlin Embrace)! Not only that there’s a possible surprise at the end that you weren’t expecting that’s sitting there!

Seven Argentine Starters
What is an Argentine Starter ? In it’s simplest form an Argentine Leading Starter is a series of simple movements to begin a dance with. That’s it, that’s all. It doesn’t need to be complicated. It’s just a way to start the dance that is easeful and not stressful.

Lead Exercises
What is a Lead Exercise ? This is a series of linked vocabulary choices that are practiced with some frequency on a weekly basis within the construct of 2 different embrace ideas, as well as with a metronome and NOT a piece of music. The reason ? A piece of music has lots and lots of nuances that can and do throw most people off, it confuses the hell out of them.

3 Couples Exercises
Tango Exercises. Exercise. The very word makes most people go “Uuuuugh!”, which is right up there with ‘homework’, ‘practice’, ‘taxes’, ‘rent’, and ‘dental visit’, and about as much fun. Sadly. 🙁 And this applies even more so with regards to Argentine Tango. It’s no wonder that when you say the words ‘Tango Exercise’ that most people want to hide under the nearest rock, until the storm passes. And there’s a few reasons for this association. The first is that most people’s experience of Tango Exercises is repetition of the same movement, over and over again.

Five Common Follower Errors
What are the five common errors ? Simple: 1.) Lifting the Foot. 2.) Bending The Knee. 3.) Stepping Away. 4.) Auto Ocho. 5.) Auto Cross.

Five Common Lead Errors
From the Intensive Process comes Five Common Lead Errors that Tango Topics has pulled from its archives, reshot, retooled, and condensed into byte/bite-sized chunks for easy digestion. It is by no means going to change your dance. Not one little bit. In order for change will only occur, if you put the time in to actively take charge of your tango (re) education.

Ending A Dance
How Do We Want To End A Dance ? Answer: Simply. Nothing flashy, but very simple and plain which is to say: The way you start a dance is how we want to end a dance. If you started out facing each other, then you want to end up facing each other. How hard is that ?

Tango Noise
Mostly everyone generates some kind or type of Tango Noise. Our goal in our solo practice is to minimize those issues or areas of Tango Noise as much as humanly possible. However the fact is that a lot of people don’t do that. They’re completely unaware that they’re generating these things, and believe, erroneously, that what they’re doing is desirable because no one has said anything about their abilities or skills. This is a fallacy of delusion. Kinda like sticking one’s head in the sand. The reality is that a.) a good portion of the people that you dance with have not been trained to hear/feel this stuff. and b.) because they’re untrained they’re not going to say anything about it.
